Seeking Caring Home for Adult with Disability

Seeking Caring Home for Adult with Disability The Adult Family Care Program of SCES, Inc. is looking for a special individual or family to open their home to a 44-year-old adult male with a mental health disability. He is physically independent and is able to care for his own daily needs. He is a good natured man who is striving to be more independent, and has been able to make steps towards this goal with direction and supervision. He relates well with others, attends an Adult Day Health program five days per week, and has found a variety of work opportunities on his own. Currently, there are hundreds of caring families in Massachusetts who share their homes with older adults and adults with disabilities. They are part of the growing and successful Adult Family Care Program which provides foster homes as an alternative to institutional care for those who can no longer live alone. Medicaid pays hosts $19.00 per day (approximately $570 per month) which is tax-free income. Participants pay the host at least $400 per month in room and board. Clients of the Adult Family Care Program are called “participants” because they become part of the host family and are expected to participate in family life as much as possible. Participants must be at least 16 years of age, and require assistance with daily personal care. Host families are carefully screened and receive thorough training. A registered nurse and a licensed social worker provide ongoing clinical support to both the client and caregiver. If you are interested in learning more about this individual and the Adult Family Care Program, please call 617-628-2601 and ask for Adult Family Care.
