Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services
and Cambridge Health Alliance
Partner on Memory Services.
Cambridge Health Alliance has developed a new Memory Center to help people with memory loss. The Center, which sees people both in Cambridge and Somerville, includes experts from Psychiatry, Psychology, Neurology, and Internal Medicine. Using a team approach, these providers work with patients, families, and caregivers to understand the cause of any memory loss. They also work closely with Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services to develop treatment and ongoing support plans.
The new Memory Center is based at the Cambridge Health Alliance Department of Psychiatry, which is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. According to Dr. Stephen Pinals, the Center was developed to meet the needs of older adults in the Greater Boston region. "We know that many people are concerned about memory loss as they or their loved ones get older. While memory loss is sometimes a byproduct of aging it may also be caused by an underlying medical condition. In these cases there may be ways to help improve memory or at least prevent it from worsening. We believe that when memory loss affects a person's life or daily activities, it is time to see a doctor. We see it as a check-up for your memory." To make an appointment at the Memory Center, or to find out more information, please call Cambridge Health Alliance at 781-306-8633.
